I had a chance to review both of these lovely pattern books, and I’m happy to give them both my stamp of approval. These books include some exceptional design work, plus symbol crochet charts, schematics, written instructions and stunning, on-trend color photographs. The patterns are really beautiful and detailed, and they’ve been tech edited by popular crochet designer Edie Eckman, who I’m sure many of you have heard of. In a world of mediocre patterns, it’s rare to find a collection this exceptionally beautiful and well thought out. I really hope you’ll find these patterns as inspiring as I do.

I’ve already started crocheting one of the projects from the spring pattern book. The design I’m working on is a lovely, lacy springtime cowl pattern for young girls.

I have a baby on the way. I’m not sure whether I’m expecting a girl or a boy (I want to be surprised!) but if I have a daughter, I’m hoping this cowl will become a cherished part of her future wardrobe. If I have a son, the cowl will become my first charity crochet project of 2015 — which makes me just as happy. It’s win / win either way.

I’ve posted a work-in-progress picture of the cowl I’m crocheting, along with bunches of photos from the book and more of my thoughts about these patterns. If you want to check it out, please visit my book review of the Imagical Seasons spring pattern collection. I’ve also reviewed the summer pattern collection as well.

I should mention that these books are both brand new, and that they are part of an ongoing series. The current giveaways are a offered as part of a celebration of the books’ blog tour and publicity efforts.

Remember the days when authors used to travel and do book signings? Well, these days with so many people having Internet access, fewer authors are literally traveling. Instead, the trendy thing nowadays is for authors to do blog tours — and so Alla has a fantastic lineup of bloggers who are participating in her blog tour.

Participating bloggers are posting additional book giveaways, insights from the author, Alla Koval, and their reviews of these crochet pattern books.

The series of books is planned to be 4 volumes all together — a book for each season in the year. Later this year, Alla plans to release the fall and winter volumes. I’ll definitely be on the lookout for those.

I was curious about Alla’s design process, not to mention how she approaches the book writing process and other things. So I offered to interview her as part of the blog tour. Alla agreed to contribute an interview at KnittingandCrochet.net in order to satisfy my curiosity and give us some insights into what it’s been like for her behind the scenes.
